KAI Properti Completes Extension of Rejosari Depot Track to Speed Up Shunting Process

Jakarta, August 7, 2025 – PT KA Properti Manajemen (KAI Properti), a subsidiary of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero), has completed a strategic project to extend the badug emplasemen track at the Rejosari Carriage Depot. This development is an important step in increasing shunting capacity, improving supporting infrastructure, and minimizing the risk of operational disruptions due to field conditions.

Acting Chief Secretary of KAI Properti, Ramdhani Subagja, stated that the completion of this project is part of the company's commitment to supporting the smooth operation and maintenance of railway facilities.

“The track upgrade at the Rejosari Depot not only increases capacity but also accelerates the shunting process and enhances the reliability of maintenance facilities. This project is a tangible contribution from KAI Properti to support safe, timely, and efficient railway operations,” said Bagja.

This project includes the extension of Track 11, which is used for maintenance activities at the Rejosari Carriage Depot. This track serves as the main route for shunting carriages entering and exiting the maintenance facility. With this extension, the movement of rolling stock has become more flexible and does not hinder other shunting activities at the depot.

One of the main focuses of development is the repair and expansion of drainage channels in the Dipo Rejosari area. In 2024, there were three flood incidents in this area that resulted in the temporary suspension of train operations (Semboyan 3). Through the improvement of channel dimensions, the drainage system now has a larger capacity to handle heavy rainfall, thereby minimizing the risk of flooding that could disrupt operations.

To support the smooth operation of shunting activities, KAI Properti has increased the number of shunting tracks from one to two. This addition allows the movement of carriages or train sets undergoing maintenance to be carried out in parallel. As a result, shunting waiting times can be reduced, and depot productivity has significantly improved.

In addition to adding and extending tracks, KAI Properti has also improved the elevation of existing shunting tracks to meet the maximum slope standards for depot/shunting tracks. The track elevation was originally 3.3 per mille, but has been adjusted to 1.5 per mille. This change aims to improve shunting safety and maintain the stability of trains when moving in the depot area.

With the completion of this project, Dipo Gerbong Rejosari is expected to operate more efficiently, safely, and be ready to support the needs of railway maintenance on a larger scale. The increase in shunting capacity will have a direct impact on the smooth operation of trains.

“KAI Properti will continue to be committed to supporting the KAI Group in maintaining and developing railway infrastructure. Every project we undertake is always oriented towards safety, efficiency, and quality of service for the community,” concluded Bagja.
